Tales of the Unexpected…Billy Fury.

To be honest I could pick a host of great ’45s from the British rocker Billy Fury. From the top mod b-side “Certain Things” to the brooding “What do you think your doing of” (still can’t work out what that means). But for the purpose of this post we seek something more unexpected. We therefor look to the year 1967 and an unual psychedelic departure for Billy. “Suzanne in the Mirror” (Parlophone) is a beautiful baroque psych ’45 which to my ears has a hit written all over it. Apparently it came out after the pirate stations had closed down, thus suffering from lack of airplay and remained a relative obscurity. It’s great…
